Programa potente y diverso, con dos figuras muy importantes y a la vez muy diferentes y que ambas han sido distinguidas este a\u00f1o con el reconocimiento a toda su larga trayectoria como artistas, por parte del Festival con el premio \u201cDonostiako Jazzaldia\u201d, reconocimiento m\u00e1s que merecido a artistas muy fieles a su concepci\u00f3n del jazz y resistentes a los vaivenes y veleidades del mercado musical, se trata del guitarrista y creador infatigable Marc Ribot y la cantante llena de\u00a0 fuerza y compromiso Dee Dee Bridgewater.<\/p>\n<h3>Marc Ribot Hurry Red Telephone<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Formaci\u00f3n:<br \/>\nMarc Ribot (guitarra)<br \/>\nAva Mendoza (guitarra)<br \/>\nSebastian Steinberg (contrabajo)<br \/>\nChad Taylor (bater\u00eda)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Marc Ribot ha sido un asiduo al festival de jazz de San Sebasti\u00e1n, desde que lleg\u00f3 por primera vez en 1999, si mis datos no me enga\u00f1an, con su proyecto de \u201cLos Cubanos Postizos\u201d. La presencia de Marc Ribot ha sido constante en este festival, lo hizo en 2003 junto al tr\u00edo Medeski en la playa de la Zurriola, en 2008 con \u201cCeramic Dog\u201d en las Terrazas del Kursaal, en 2012 en la \u201cTrini\u201d de nuevo con \u201cCubanos Postizos\u201d, en 2013 con doble actuaci\u00f3n por una parte en el Kursaal con la Masada Marathon de John Zorn y en la \u201cTrini\u201d con un concierto in\u00e9dito y yo dir\u00eda que surrealista, donde Marc Ribot y Joe Lovano acompa\u00f1aron a Diana Krall, en 2016 con el proyecto \u201cYoung Philadelfians\u201d, en 2019 en el espacio Skoda junto al Teatro Victoria Eugenia, en el 2021 en un entorno incomparable como es Chillida Leku con su tr\u00edo Ceramic Dog (Shahzad\u00a0 Ismaily y Ches Smith) y finalmente en 2025 con triple actuaci\u00f3n y triple formato, haciendo honor a su reconocimiento con el premio a su trayectoria concedido por el festival. Tres escenarios, en la plaza de la Trinidad, un memorable concierto con su \u201cHurry Red Telephone\u201d con la guitarrista Ava Mendoza y el bater\u00eda Chad Taylor, un segundo en el Teatro Vitoria Eugenia con sus inseparables Shahzad\u00a0 Ismaily y Ches Smith, donde el director de festival Miguel Mart\u00edn le entreg\u00f3 el \u201cDonostiako Jazzaldia\u201d y finalmente un tercero en San Telmo, Ribot solo con su guitarra y efectos. La verdad es que esa presencia continua de Ribot, o m\u00fasicos como John Zorn o el pasado a\u00f1o tambi\u00e9n William Parker y otros, indican una apuesta clara por parte de la direcci\u00f3n\/programaci\u00f3n por la creatividad y la innovaci\u00f3n en la m\u00fasica, en este caso jazz, en un dif\u00edcil equilibrio que nunca gusta a unos o a otros, pero muy necesario para mantener el nivel del festival, pero tambi\u00e9n su sostenibilidad. Marc Ribot no defraud\u00f3, desde luego, a los muchos aficionados que lo siguen, su infinita capacidad creativa pasando por los elementos nucleares de multitud de estilos y culturas musicales, que puedes identificar durante segundos pero que inmediatamente se deconstruyen o transforman buscando caminos desconocidos. Como dec\u00eda un compa\u00f1ero un Marc Ribot \u201cestratosf\u00e9rico\u201d que no dej\u00f3 indiferente a nadie. Hab\u00eda que recomponerse porque despu\u00e9s del vendaval Ribot ven\u00eda otro vendaval, quiz\u00e1s m\u00e1s suave, por lo menos a priori, con la cantante Dee Dee Bridgewater. Y es verdad que vino otro vendaval, pero no de menor intensidad, sino que lo super\u00f3, al menos en la atmosfera emocional que supo crear la cantante, con un p\u00fablico totalmente entregado.<\/p>\n<p>Dee Dee Bridgewater es un ejemplo de resistencia y tenacidad. La de Memphis tuvo una etapa inicial fulgurante en la que lleg\u00f3 a ser la cantante de la Big Band de Thad Jones\/Mel Lewis entre 1972 y 1974 y primera figura del musical de Broadway \u201cThe Wiz\u201d. Despu\u00e9s pas\u00f3 una \u00e9poca de completa ignorancia por parte de sus coet\u00e1neos, lo cual le oblig\u00f3 a trasladarse a Francia, donde mont\u00f3 su propio grupo con m\u00fasicos franceses, haciendo incluso versiones de canciones galas, en estas andaba cuando la vi en Benalm\u00e1dena en los a\u00f1os 90\u00b4. Si embargo, sus grabaciones con la Verve volvieron a tener la atenci\u00f3n de p\u00fablico y cr\u00edtica y a partir de ese momento ha vuelto a ser una artista muy reconocida ganando tres Grammys y un Tony. Pero adem\u00e1s, Dee Dee es una mujer comprometida en grandes causas, siendo nombrada Embajadora de Buena Voluntad\u00bb de la Organizaci\u00f3n de las Naciones Unidas para la Agricultura y la Alimentaci\u00f3n (FAO) y desde ah\u00ed sigue apelando a la solidaridad internacional para financiar proyectos de base en la lucha contra el hambre mundial.<\/p>\n<p>Este a\u00f1o ha sido su tercera participaci\u00f3n en el Jazzaldia, siempre en la plaza de la Trinidad, los a\u00f1os 2014 y 2015 y este 2025, donde tambi\u00e9n ha sido reconocida por la organizaci\u00f3n con el premio Donostiako Jazzaldia, que le fue entregado en la misma plaza el d\u00eda de la actuaci\u00f3n por Miguel Mart\u00edn. Y de nuevo tra\u00eda un proyecto comprometido en el que bajo el nombre de \u201cWe exist!\u201d traslada un grito, una reivindicaci\u00f3n del activismo y del arte de las mujeres, tantas veces ignoradas como lo fue ella misma. Su cuarteto, todas mujeres j\u00f3venes, le dan fuerza al proyecto, que se multiplica por mucho cuando entra en acci\u00f3n la voz en\u00e9rgica, profunda y llena de fuerza de una cantante que se mantiene en forma y que transmite emoci\u00f3n en sus actuaciones.
